16th Edition (Fixed Wiring) Inspection & Test

What is 16th Edition Testing?

Fixed wire testing is the inspection and testing of the internal wiring within a building. It is a mandatory requirement of the 'Electricity of Work Regulations 1989'. Failure to carry out such testing could invalidate your insurance cover in the event of a claim.

How often does it need testing?

The testing should be carried out at 5 yearly intervals. If you have retained your test results from the previous testing, your premises will only require a 20% inspection. Our engineer will check this with you when he visits the site.

Remedial Works and Installations

When we have completed the 16th Edition Testing at your premises you will be presented with a full NICEIC report and a remedial list of any items that need to be attended to in order to bring your installation up to a satisfactory condition.

Procedures

One of our 16th Edition engineers will come to your premises and carry out a quotation survey free of charge. This will denote how many distribution boards you have and how may points they are serving. This will then allow us to advise how many days the job would take to complete.

Once the engineer has visited site, a quotation will be raised for your goodselves within the following few days.

If this quotation is favourable, we will arrange a date for our engineers to visit site to commence the testing.

Please be aware that 16th Edition Testing will require periods of 'Shutdown', i.e. where the electricity supply is turned off during the testing, therefore it would be less intrusive to your staff etc. for this to be carried out during a quiet period or out of hours.

Once the testing has been completed a full report will be issued with any recommendations to bring your fixed wiring up to standard.

If you have any queries or require any assistance, our technical department, available 5 days a week will be pleased to deal with these for you.
